![]() Especially with such a high requirement of 50 players per server. We kept pushing for the community.ĭue to the games old style tdm genre, its extremely difficult to maintain players, we've been hearing the games dead since 2017 when it dropped to 400 concurrent players from the launch hype. We could have walked away in April 2017 when we made the majority of our money but didn't. Since ddosing Is damaging to a product.īlackwake has been the most stressful thing to ever experience in our lives. We banned that particular community and publicly shunned them from the game and it caused huge dramas and us getting death threats and us having to send a few legal letters. There were people ddosing entire communities and still to this day ddosing servers. We only continued to work on the game because of the community, our will for the game waned in 2017 due to community infighting. We never intended to get the game as far as it did. Honestly a insurmountable amount of effort and work into a passion project. Tons of balancing and but fixing, try to support community tournaments, added tons of outfits. Reverting to traditional tdm, added ctb and siege modes. We scrapped tdm and made a single conquest mode to offer the game more variety per match, and was a 6 month undertaking which we ended up scrapping. Used to Only have cannon balls.Įxperimented with multiple cannon aiming systems over the months and settled on one. Stuff we spent a lot of time on.Īnother ten ships, the ability to actually choose which ship you want to build, couldn't do any of that. Over the course of of development we added a lot and removed things that didn't work out. It literally only had the hoy and galleon. I don't think you're aware of what the game was when we first released it. I love the idea of this game, and I have even had a good amount of fun with it in its current state, however, the skepticism inside me tells me that we are being strung along for as long as possible until the developers decide that they're done, and eventually say the game is "released" when it is nowhere near finished, ala Spacebase DF-9 or StarForge.Ĭan you elaborate on why you say it's nowhere near finished? ![]() From my impression of playing the game, it is nowhere near close to a state of release (to be honest, it doesn't even feel close to a beta release.) The only phrase I could use to describe it is "mostly playable." And the progress that is being made with the updates does not seem substantial enough for this game to receive a release anytime soon. I'm aware the developer team is small, and I want to give the benefit of the doubt, but this game reeks of either current or future developer abandonment. It's been put on sale for the extremely low price of $2, and is getting updates at a much slower pace than it used to. This game has been in early access for about three years now, it's still in an alpha state, and it was planned to be finished by late 2019.
